Music and Events
Music is an integral part of the Take Five atmosphere. You might have guessed that as we're named after a song and our walls feature images of jazz greats. We program our own music (and gladly pay our ASCAP fees to support the music makers). It's primarily jazz - lots of old Blue Note recordings - but we mix in a healthy dose of good rock, funk, soul and rhythm & blues. If there's something you think we might like to add, tell us. Our ears are always open.
Take Five Coffee Bar also features live music every Friday and Saturday night (and sometimes Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday too) from the amazingly talented artists living in the Kansas City area and beyond. Check our calendar and sign up for our e-mail newsletter to find out who's playing. Enjoy a latte or a cocktail while you're listening, we won't object.

Clint brings this music to life in our living room playing from charts Bobby used in the original group. The band includes Clint (trumpet), TJ Martley (keys), Ben Leifer (bass), Brett Jackson and Michael Shults (sax) and Matt Leifer (drums). This is an outstanding musical opportunity - don't miss it.
Friday, April 18 - 8pm to 10pm: Rob Scheps featuring Eliot Zigmund ($5 cover)
From New York to Portland to Hawaii and all points in between, master sax player Rob Scheps is in town and you know what that means. An outstanding instrumentalist in his own right, Rob always travels with the best, in this case it's drummer Eliot Zigmund. Eliot was Bill Evans' drummer for several years and remains a highly sought after session musician, as well as leading his own ensembles. They will be joined by Kansas City greats Roger Wilder (keys) and Bob Bowman (bass).
Saturday, April 19 - 8pm to 10pm: Eboni and the Ivories ($5 cover)
This group's first performance at Take Five absolutely brought the house down, and we didn't let her get out the door without booking the next date. Welcome Eboni Fondren and her band - Chris Hazelton (B3), Kevin Frazee (drums) and Rod Fleeman (guitar).
